About Us

Empowering communities to work together to provide protection
from traumatic experiences and foster healing.

Who we are

Hope Beyond Hurt (HBH) is a coalition of organizations, professionals, and community members working together to prevent adversity, promote healing, and build resilient communities across the Laurel Highlands.

Since our launch in September 2023, HBH has united partners around a shared commitment to creating communities where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported.

Our work is guided by six Action Teams – Criminal Justice, Data and Evaluation, Marketing and Outreach, Physical and Behavioral Health, Training and Education, and Youth Advisory. Together, local leaders, professionals, community members, youth, and people with lived experience strengthen systems, expand opportunities, and help individuals, families, and communities thrive.

As a regional partner of HEAL PA, HBH helps advance Pennsylvania’s trauma-informed vision at the local level. Recognizing the unique strengths and challenges of rural communities, we work to increase access to support, strengthen connections, and foster healing where it is needed most.

Our Work

Hope Beyond Hurt leads collaborative initiatives that help communities move beyond responding to trauma toward building resilience, strengthening systems, and creating lasting change across Bedford, Cambria, Fayette, and Somerset counties. While each initiative has a unique focus, they all support one shared vision: communities where every person feels safe, supported, connected, and empowered to thrive.

Together, these initiatives educate, connect, and empower individuals, organizations, and communities while creating sustainable, healing-centered systems that strengthen the Laurel Highlands for generations to come.

Our current initiatives include:
